Senior CoHousingCohousing is an entirely new way for seniors to house themselves with dignity, independence, safety, mutual concern, and fun. Providing an inside look at existing communities, Senior Cohousing demonstrates how people can make the conscious choice to live independently through community.

ARIZONA

     * Patagonia - ASL Vegetarian Village Communities - Our goal is to be off the grid, with organic gardens and fruit trees, wilderness areas, community center with swimming pool, sauna, steam, meeting hall, guest accommodation, periphery parking, cohousing, non-toxic natural buildings, sustainable lifestyle: small, simple, beautiful, with open spaces and shared facilities.

CALIFORNIA

     * Hollister - Hollister Cohousing - Knowing that modern trends and traditional forms of housing are often isolative, impersonal and lonely, forward-thinking people across the nation are building cohousing neighborhoods where residents can experience a sense of belonging, sharing and community lifestyle.

COLORADO

     * Denver - Denver Urban Core Cohousing Initiative - A group of people who value community and individuality equally. A special emphasis of our group is the melding of the cohousing ethos with an urban sensibility. We cherish the cultural vitality of city life; we also want our living environment to encourage connection between people in ways that traditional housing does not.

     * Arvada - New Urbanist Neighborhood - 2 housing communities, one inter-generational and one senior cohousing community. These 2 cohousing communities will be part of a larger New Urbanist Neighborhood intended to be as close to zero energy as is feasible. The site is centrally located to Denver, Golden, Boulder, and the Mountain Areas. It is also located along the Ralston Creek bike trail with access to Denver and beyond.

ILLINOIS

     * Chicago - Prairie Onion Cohousing - Prairie Onion Cohousing will create and sustain an intergenerational, cooperative urban community and living environment that is healthful and nurturing for its residents, connected with the larger community, and respectful of the earth's resources which we all share.
